Panevropská verze hudební a lifestylové televize pro mládež MTV Europe zahájila první technické testy s českou lokalizací. MTV Europe bude vysílat vybrané pořady v českém jazyce.

Americký koncern Viacom zahájil technické testy lokalizace programu MTV Europe. U této stanice byly zapojeny volitelné DVB titulky v českém, maďarském a rumunském jazyce a dále také česká a maďarská zvuková stopa. Vše nasvědčuje tomu, že stávající programy MTV Czech, MTV Hungary a MTV Romania budou nahrazeny celoevropskou verzí kanálu MTV Europe. Podobně se tak stalo i v jiných zemích, kde skončila lokalizovaná mutace MTV - například v Pobaltí.

MTV Europe má svoji distribuční trasu na satelitu Thor 6 na pozici 0,8 st. západně. K distribučnímu multiplexu má přístup lucemburská mediální skupina UPC DTH, která se tak může dohodnout na připojení systémů podmíněného přístupu CryptoWorks, Irdeto, Nagravision a Conax a poskytovat jej tak abonentům freeSAT v Česku a na Slovensku, UPC Direct v Maďarsku a Focus Sat v Rumunsku. Uvolněnou kapacitu po lokálních mutacích MTV může UPC využít pro rozšíření programové nabídky o další žádané stanice.

Distribuční linka MTV Europe je kryptována systémem Viaccess 5. Signál je určen výhradně pro kabelové a satelitní operátory. Individuální příjem zatím není možný.

Česká verze MTV skončí na konci tohoto roku. Lokalizovanou verzi MTV na českém a slovenském trhu provozovala společnost CET21, provozovatel skupiny kanálů NOVA.

Ukázka denního program MTV Europe
S návratem evropského MTV na český a slovenský trh čeká diváky MTV poměrně zásadní programová proměna. Zatímco MTV Czech dělilo program z 50% na hudbu a 50% na reality show a zábavní produkci, MTV Europe dává větší důraz na druhou složku programu - tedy reality show a zábavu, která zde jasně převažuje. Hudbu na MTV Europe najdeme v pozdních večerních, nočních a časných ranních hodinách (tedy kolem půlnoci až zhruba páté hodiny ráno).
